Funeral Services

Planning a funeral can be the most difficult thing to do.  Creating a service which gives family and friends that perfect farewell should be as individual as the person being celebrated.

As a civil celebrant my role is not restricted by any formal service requirements. I am simply there to bring your wishes to a very personal service which will be delivered with the warmth, care and tone that you would wish.

I will spend time with you and together we will gather ideas, memories and experiences to create a very special occasion. Your loved one will be the focus of the service which will truly reflect their life. You can be involved in the service on the day or I can deliver it on your behalf. You can choose music, readings, hymns and personal content. I will advise on how to piece it all together, writing tributes and creating an order of service for your approval. Once everything is just as you want it, we will have an individual and very personal service.

There is no right or wrong way to hold a funeral as long as it reflects the wishes of your loved one and their family. So whether you chose a more formal occasion or take the opportunity to celebrate in a more individual way, I will create a unique service for you to remember.

Memorial Services

A memorial service is the perfect opportunity to celebrate a life with a larger community of family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. It can be planned ahead to include a variety of music, poems and tributes from family and friends. Without the time restrictions of a funeral service there is more opportunity to tell the story of a special life. As a celebrant I can advise in choosing a suitable venue, planning a good balance of content, write tributes and linking items and ensuring a smooth flowing celebration on the day.  Where the funeral has been a small family affair, or where circumstances meant a service hasn’t been possible, a memorial event can provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate a life.

Scattering of Ashes

It may be some time before you are ready to scatter the ashes of a loved one. There are many options on how, where and when you choose to do this, you may wish to plant a tree or mark the place to return to in the future, or choose a spot with particular memories.  I can guide you through ideas for a service and deliver the ceremony on the day. This can be a perfect opportunity to bring loved ones together again for an intimate farewell.

Tribute Writing

If you are called upon to pay tribute to a friend or loved one, writing a eulogy can be a daunting task. I can meet with you to discuss the person, talk about memories and stories and help you find the right words for a meaningful tribute. A professionally written tribute will leave you well prepared and confident to deliver on the day.
